Tender

Ten-der
/ˈtendər/
1. Showing gentleness
2. Easy to chew

Which were we?

Nothing like that tenderness
the two of you
suddenly out of balance
periods still synced
shoes still swapped
somebody’s love becomes too heavy
congeals
the second it hits oxygen
make a cherry pie from it
serve her a slice in a blue dress
ripped at the hem
stained at the collar

this too will be a lost cause

There is nothing like that tenderness
the ache just after
you break every teacup
every china plate
clean in half

Was I biting your lip
or were you biting me clean
in half?
